There are a lot of businesses popping up striving to be a Sustainable Green business. I know that many of you, including myself, are excited to see the change in our world to lessen the ecological footprint we leave for the next generation. Businesses that promote their sustainability have succeeded in educating people about how important it is to use sustainably sourced metals and gemstones. What does that really mean? As of now, the United States mandates that all companies that sell alloys need to track where they have sourced the metals to guarantee that they have been acquired sustainably. Even if the company is not marketing themselves as "GREEN" they still have to use responsible sourcing and prove it in audits that are now being regularly required. So, if you found a local jewelry business that you love and feel like you want to support them and still make a conscious effort on buying green, know that you can do both. Also, the most sustainable purchase is buying something vintage or reusing grandma's old gold jewelry into your new wedding band. There's nothing wrong with that is there?
