The color of a Ruby reminds us of love and passion. For centuries Rubies were gifted to the mistress not the wife. Women that wore red were strong, forward thinking, powerful women. Red is such a strong color that there is no mistaking the confidence and power of that color.
Rubies are the red version of Sapphire, part of the Corundum family. They come in every color of the rainbow with Ruby being one of the rarest. The corundum is the 2nd hardest gemstone next to a diamond. Their hardness is graded a 9 according to the Mohs hardness scale. Rubies have increased tremendously in value due to the restrictions in the areas the finest gem quality Rubies have been mined, like Burma. The rarest of them all are the No Heat, Unheated Burmese Rubies with the bright, deep red that you look for in the gem quality rubies.
